Springtime in Malawi

Springtime in Malawi

People are wearing sweaters here while we are sleeveless.  They find it cool while I find it perfect!  The flowers are starting to bloom and there are many varieties.  I wish I had a botany book.  I can identify some of the plants, poinsettia, frangipani and geraniums but there are so many more flowers!

It is a bit cool this evening, I actually reached for a long sleeved shirt this evening but not a sweater.  There has been clouds and cool breeze all day.

What happens in the Spring?  Weddings!  We have seen wedding parties everywhere.  They were “snapping” pictures of a wedding in the garden of a hotel in town.  The skyband hotspot is near a hall where wedding receptions are held.  The wedding party dances into the hall under the beat of music from the loudspeakers and a master of ceremonies (MC).  Then the guests come up and dance around the bride and groom and throw paper money at them.  The brides and grooms are surrounded by bridesmaids in matching dresses, little girls in white and groomsmen wear smart suits and matching ties.   Schools are out and it is time for weddings.

Weddings are so joyful and fun to be around.
