Leaping Lizards
In the tropics there are lizards everywhere.  You will find them indoors and outside.  They tend to blend in to the background colors outside and you can see them when they move.  Mostly they are a tan color here this time of year.  We saw a big one with a blue head climbing up a tree the other day.  The locals call it a Gecko but it looked nothing like the green cartoon gecko selling Geico insurance.  I tried to take a picture with my cell phone but he would not cooperate and the light was not good enough to get a picture.
Today we went to the Zomba plateau and had a lovely lunch.  The people who ordered the green Thai curry made the best entrĂ©e choice. There was a lovely cat orange tabby cat that adopted us for company while we ate lunch.  Then all of the sudden, while we were eating she jumped up, caught a lizard and ate it whole in front of us.  The tail was hanging out of her mouth while she continued to introduce him to world of her stomach.
I had been to Zomba twenty years ago. It felt similar after arrival but on the way deforestation was evident.  The air was cool up on the plateau and we saw some monkeys.
On the way up the escarpment the taxi had a flat tire.  That taxi driver could work in a NASCSAR pit crew, he changed that tire so fast.  He had two spares, one a slick as glass and another with a little tread.  He used the one with a little tread and drove us safely up the steep escarpment.  We were so impressed that we called him to pick us up and take us back down.
